New #artwork, called #TheTower. An unsettling piece to work on, but necessary.
I like to spend as much time outside as possible, but that was difficult Summer & Fall of 2018. It seemed the whole world was burning. Most days, you couldn’t see more than a few hundred yards through the thick smoke on trails that normally have spectacular mountain views. Fires filled the state with smoke for month after month after month after month. Just breathing was upsetting and a constant reminder. Thinking on what was burning - the human suffering, the trees and animals on fire... to be honest, there were many times last year I was afraid I’d lost all hope. I haven’t, but there were times I thought that I surely would.
I can’t even imagine what those who experienced the fires more directly must have felt.
