Another new piece I finished a month or two ago over the summer, 2021. I call this artwork "Fallen Angel, Fearful Man" or "What Man Has Made Of Man". I guess I think of this artwork that way because: sometimes I believe mankind, all of humanity really, are the fallen ones. So much unrealized potential...
I also know, in some weird way, this artwork was at least in part inspired by the 10 of Swords tarot card. That picture has always bothered me...
Anyway, we had another smoke filled summer out West and here in Utah.
The idea for this image came to me as a story I made up over time as I'd be out walking... or as a character in a story at least. I believe myself to be most creative and seem to get my best ideas while I am out exercising and walking. I don't know if this is one of my best ideas or not, but in my story I imagined some sorry sucker being banished and outcast into the desert. Wandering and wandering through the burning red and dead landscape. The sky coming down as birds, attacking. I used to think the birds were attacking anyway but, with our annual fire and smoke season (yes, we now have a regular burning season for hell's sake), I started to think maybe these birds were just falling dead out of the sky because they couldn't breathe anymore.
But anyway, it's hard living through an apocalypse ;)
By apocalypse, I mean: a disclosure or revelation of great knowledge.
