The myth of Heracles, a.k.a. Hercules, is one of the first stories I remember reading as a little kid.

Gentle hand gesture give wild predator hugs.

With this artwork, I am interested in tracking the movement of the woman's arm geometry through time as they follow a bird's flight.

The image above is inspired by the Star tarot card, which often shows a woman pouring water into water and onto the land.

.. and sometimes, as I roamed, it seemed like the green was watching and aware of me too.

This is a dream image.

A #dream image that has stuck with me for years and pressed itself into my imagination.

I had a great time tonight at the Magic And Machine show at the Springville Museum!

I think I've finally finished this new artwork, called "Between the Trees". See the evolution of the idea.

Tall trees reach into the sky, branches creating new eye shapes for the moon to peek through with each step. These moon eyes became hypnotic, watching the moon watch me.

A psychopomp is a guide, an escort accompanying souls to the afterlife. They can also serve as guides through the various transitions of life.

Some new artwork, called the Emperor. I caught a vision of this chap one day while sitting and listening to a lecture, and I immediately had to draw the dude down.

It’s easy for me to focus on drawing what is in my imagination, and forget to draw from life. It’s always a good and important exercise to draw the human figure, and draw what you see.

I was asked if I’d come up with some new artwork for HawkWatch International, so I said “Sure!”

You may also see that Nature also looks out through your eyes as well. We are all important pieces, helping complete creation.

Any opportunity to draw a beautiful bird is a good opportunity, especially if it helps promote raptor preservation.

The snake, the bird, and the trees all kind of merged into one image in my minds eye and became this caduceus drawing.

A new Dragon for the New Year!

Its the Dragon!

Every year around this time I start to think about an old digital painting I did a few years back called “Maple”.

I think of these birds as fiery phoenix, circling around the woman’s head like souls or spirits, or maybe thoughts and ideas. Either way, they are waiting to take shape in this world.

Last Sunday I hung some of my artwork at the Rio Grande Cafe in downtown Salt Lake. A bunch of my artwork really…

I didn’t think that I’d be posting more of these birds so soon, but they’ve become an important part of a project I’m working on and am really excited about.

The show celebrates everything fierce and frail about birds, as well as attempting to link humanity back to its animal roots.

Here is a new piece I finished recently called “Ghost in the Machine“.

Another piece I finished a little earlier this week. I drew most of this using Adobe Ideas, but finished up in Illustrator.

Here is a picture that I finished last night. It is really a sketch for another idea I have brewing in my mind, but I think it also stands pretty well on its own as a finished piece too.

Music is another planet.

Mind falls into the physical world, takes a look around, and lives a life.

I mentioned last week that I’d been thinking of self-publishing some of my work. Well, I’ve started by collecting a couple of series that I finished over the last year or so!

On my walk I came across a herd of deer maybe ten or twenty yards up above me, grazing near and running through the scrub oak.

Today I am posting a couple new Adobe Ideas drawings that I’ve recently finished.

Imagination is something I made a few years ago, but has been on my mind a bit lately.

My artwork will be up through December, with a reception on December 7th from 6-7 pm.

The Sunflowers are few years old by now, but they kind of suits the season. Plus I love sunflowers and bees.

A drawing was done on my iPad using Adobe Ideas.

Your body is a planet, orbiting the heart, spirit, star.

It was a snake all coiled up around itself, rolling down towards me. I watched the snake uncoil, and saw it was guarding an egg

Butterflies flying all around, above that rattlesnake in the grass. Beautiful.

Sophia‘s great spirit steps down into Her earth body.

The sky and cloud colored fabric morph into a celestial wing, and in the geometry of that wing you can see hints of animal (primarily bird) shapes following close behind.

By associating the sun, planets and stars with a human and animal form, they suddenly become much more relatable.

Do I really think that this Universe wears a human form?

Brahman is everything, but is also known as the Trimurti, moving through the universe wearing one of three cosmic forms.

I look up to the Sun and see this giant living being.

The dreaming Earth. She is dreaming of the Sun, Moon, and Stars… but mostly She dreams of the clouds and sky, mountains and lakes, green, and ever-changing life.

The Sphinx guards that secret knowledge too through her riddles, and will destroy you if you’re not careful and can’t answer her questions.

In ancient Egypt, there was the idea that the human soul was made up of five different parts. These different parts, when combined with the physical body, are what make up a human being.

I saw a gigantic dragon.

“The Third World” is the human world.

I’ve never considered myself to be a wildlife artist, even though I love being out in Nature. And I love animals! The Second World is the animal world.

I love the patterns and geometry those branches make as they reach for the sky. I love to see the patterns their roots make as they dig into the dirt.
