Some new artwork called the "Birth of Venus" which I finished earlier this summer, 2021.
The birth of Venus, or Aphrodite (her Greek name), is an odd story and you can read more about it here. I tend to think Aphrodite's myth has its origin in some heavenly/planetary event that evolved over time into the story we know today. But maybe not.. how can we know for sure?
Aphrodite is the sea born goddess of love, beauty, passion, sex and birth. She was widely worshipped in Ancient Greek and Roman cultures where she had many temples, and I probably first learned about her as a kid when reading the Iliad and Odyssey. But I've gotten to know her as the evening/morning star, or the planet Venus, and she has kept me good company on many many mountain strolls.
