“I can see that Judas has received a band of men and officers, and they come here with torches and weapons.
“Watch and learn,” I tell my beloved apostles. “For they all will fall before me.”
“Whom seek ye?” I call out to the oncoming host. “Jesus of Nazareth,” comes their response. And I say unto them, “I am he.”
And as soon as I speak these words—I am he—they tumble to the ground, a Roman detachment of 600 strong, all fallen to the Earth.
Again, I ask, “Whom seek ye?” And they respond a second time, “Jesus of Nazareth.” And because it is I that they seek, I ask that my men may go on their way. Peace be unto them.
Gethsemane is behind me. The cross is ahead of me. On I go to death and resurrection. God has prevailed!”
