With this artwork, I am interested in tracking the movement of the woman's arm geometry through time as they follow a bird's flight.

I imagine myself meeting her Feather Children on one of my walks up the canyon. Maybe stumbling across it’s nest or something.

It was an owl, and it was actually there and gone pretty quick.

It may be obvious if you scroll through my recent posts, but I’ll just restate that I’ve got ancient Egypt on my mind.

Today marks the beginning of the Audubon Society’s annual Christmas Bird Count.

Whenever a raven or crow soars and squawks overhead I have to stop and watch it fly out of sight.

This is Buddy, a mitered conure parrot. I’ve been fostering him through Wasatch Avian Education Society, and it is such a pleasure to have him around.

This is Louie. He is my new buddy, a 6 year old indian ringneck parrot. He is such an amazing bird.

A psychopomp is a guide, an escort accompanying souls to the afterlife. They can also serve as guides through the various transitions of life.

I was asked if I’d come up with some new artwork for HawkWatch International, so I said “Sure!”

I finished this here flock of birds

I started drawing these strange birds with sort-a human faces embedded into the feathers two or three years ago and have always meant to do more with the idea.

I have been seeing a lot of crows lately. I learned a long time ago to pay attention to them.

Any opportunity to draw a beautiful bird is a good opportunity, especially if it helps promote raptor preservation.

I think of these birds as fiery phoenix, circling around the woman’s head like souls or spirits, or maybe thoughts and ideas. Either way, they are waiting to take shape in this world.

I went to HawkWatch International’s event “Wings Across the West” up at Red Butte Garden this week.

I didn’t think that I’d be posting more of these birds so soon, but they’ve become an important part of a project I’m working on and am really excited about.

Birds are an especially powerful symbol for me. A link between heaven and earth.

The show celebrates everything fierce and frail about birds, as well as attempting to link humanity back to its animal roots.

Another piece I finished a little earlier this week. I drew most of this using Adobe Ideas, but finished up in Illustrator.
