I am currently hanging a piece of artwork at the (a)perture gallery called “Sculptor in a Fancy Shirt”. I finished it a week or two ago, and am very happy with the way it came together.
This image, like a lot of my artwork, pretty much made itself. I started with one shape and color, which inspired the next shape, which inspires the next. After a little while I started to get hints of what the image wanted to be. I’m very interested in geometric patterns, and encourage cubist form. I’m also very interested in color and think it is one of the most important parts of every composition I make. I have no idea why I felt like putting the swoop-dee-swoops on this sculptor’s shirt, but they seemed to belong. I worry that he might get his shirt dirty, but he doesn’t seem to mind.
Done with markers, some ink, and a little paint.
